How to control and ease your dog's vomiting
It's a dog's duty to wonder into everything his face can find. You have to love their enthusiasm to wonder into adventures but sometimes that enthusiasm gets your dog into something that will cause vomiting. Dogs do not just get sick from eating out of garbage cans, they can also vomit due to eating too fast and too much. In order to help keep your dog's stomach at ease when getting sick try these tapes:
1. After your dog has had the worst of his vomiting sessions over with, be sure to keep his water bowl full to ease his stomach. Dehydrations is a normal result of vomiting or diarrhea and while you do not want too much liquids available, having enough for his needs is important
2. If your dog is vomiting, then refrain from giving him any food for an entire 24 hour period. Having him fast for a short period of time is all it may take to totally ease the stomach. "When your pet is vomiting, his stomach needs a time-out," says Martin J. Fettman, D.V.M., Ph.D., professor of pathology and clinical nutrition at the Colorado State University College of Veterinarian Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.
Sidenote: Coming up with the top sites on this subject is laborious. That is why we designed this web location. The continually developing net will enable merchants to increase their market participation and profits.
3. Sometimes your dog will not even be able to drink water in order to ease his stomach. If that is the case then have him lick ice. He will lick the water off more slowly and therefore will stay down when he drinks.
4. Keep an eye on the toilet. The last thing you need once your dog is trying to get healthier is for him to drink out of the toilet. Not only will too much water make him vomit again, but the bacteria that comes with it is harmful as well. Simply keep the lid down and not only when the dog is sick, but at all other times.
5. After the 24 hour fast that you administered, your dog will be extremely hungry for food. His diet should be introduced slowly and the taste very bland. This will help to gently work his system back into digesting. If you jump right back into this normal diet, you may induce vomiting again and be back at square one.
6. Lastly, try using Kaopectate. One teaspoon of Kaopectate for every 10 pounds of bodyweight should help ease the dog's stomach when vomiting. It may not taste wonderful to your pet, but it works. And of course, advise your vet before giving your dog any type of medicine.
Wow! That was a lot of information, wasn't it?
