Outdoor Running Precautions for Greyhounds
Although your Greyhound dog may not be a racer anymore, there is still no reason why you cannot enjoy the natural abilities that this dog breed displays as it enthusiastically runs for pleasure and exercise. These animals are one of nature's most athletic creations that can move at unbelievable speeds and should be enjoyed by you, the owner.
And while the Greyhound is an extremely obedient dog, its true nature is to bolt after a target without hesitation or control. So be sure to adhere to the following safety precautions when enjoying your dog running outside:
1. Do not unhook your Greyhound's leash until you are absolutely sure that the surrounding areas are safe of most moving animals and people. The last thing you need is for your dog to take you on a high speed chase through the woods while going after a deer or other obvious animal.
2. Be sure that you are away from drop off cliffs, busy roadways, and drainage pipes.
